So, if study leave can't be taken for exams or courses that are meant to "develop your career", what are study leave for?
If "be motivated, well prepared and responsible for your own training" is what we're expected to achieve, then why penalise me for taking the proactive stand in my training?
Words can't describe the anger and frustration.Current Mood: frustrated

Six months into the job, I've witnessed countless deaths and gruesome stuffs. Especially when I was on my night shifts. Like I said before, every night when I walk along the corridor to certify some poor souls' death, with the lingering scent of death in the corridor, I feel like a Grim Reaper. Surgical nights were not too bad. Medical nights were horrendous. Everyone seemed to get ill, very ill at night (or weekends).
When I did my block of Medical nights, there was a "theme" each night. Similar things seemed to happen altogether at once. Eerie.
Night #1: Falls Numerous calls about falls. At 11:30pm Me: Hello, I'm the on call night house officer, did you just bleep me? Nurse #1: Yes, hello doctor, we've got a patient who's demented, wandering about in the wards, slipped and had a fall. Did not bang his head, just bruised his knees slightly. Just thought would let you know.
At 2:30am Me: Hi, am the night house officer, did you bleep? Nurse #8: Oh yes doctor, we've got a patient who's found on the floor 10 minutes ago, all observations are fine, no obvious trauma, just thought would let you know.
At 5:30am Me: Hi, did you bleep the night house officer? Nurse #14: Yes, doctor, a patient here was found under the bed, sleeping on a pillow, don't know if he had a fall. Just thought would let you know.
And so on.
Conclusion: 1/ "Just thought would let you know" becomes the most overused phrase of the week. 2/ My "introduction" got shorter and shorter. From "Hello, I'm the on call night house officer, did you just bleep me" at 11:30pm, to "Hi, did you bleep the night house officer" at 5:30am, to "Yes how can I help?" at 7:30am when I was really, really, really tired. 3/ Patients should go to bed, not floor. 'nuff said. |

3. Paris And I went to what was dubbed as the most romantic city of the world, with 2 boys. Very lucky indeed. Reason being: they are both as lazy as I am, if not lazier. Both eat as much as I do (or more), love eating as much as I do (or more), making them very good travel companions. At least they didn't complain aloud when I'm too slow / get distracted. (what I don't know won't hurt me :P)
a. Weather It was lovely the first day, then it rained everyday. Wtf...
b. Places Eiffle Tower Motherfuckin-massive-queue! We queued up for 2.5 hours, stayed up on the tower for 15 minutes and got back down to the ground. Alright alright the view was breathtaking. Totally gorgeous. 15 minutes wasn't enough at all. But it was cold!!! And we were running late for our plans at night. So, my plan is to go back there hopefully during summer or when it's warmer at least.
Basilique du Sacre Coeur One of the places my cousin strongly recommended. The basilica is huge. Parisian skyline from the surrounding was gorgeous. It was a shame we did not enter the basilica itself as we were running a tad late. It would have been nice to go to the top of the basilica.
Flocks of peddlars around the basilica, however, were terrifying. They pounce on you like vultures.
Notre Dame Did not meet the hunchback. I went there at night after a heavy downpour. It was beautiful - the gothic architecture of the cathedral, the lights, the mystical atmosphere, everything seemed to complement each other perfectly. The only imperfection would be the time constraint.
Moulin Rouge Honestly, I haven't watched the film yet. However with so much hype about Moulin Rouge, the trip would not be complete without a visit to the cabarets'. Watched the most expensive shows in my entire life, and I think the show worthed every penny! (Oh the ticket came with a complementary bottle of champagne too. Haha). Your ditzy friend here made some really stupid remarks: Me: Was it just me, or do you not think the girls' tits are all very perky? It looks as though they're not wearing bra... The couple next to us looked at me weirdly. S: The girls are naked...
I know I'm strange. (I swear I was wearing my contact lenses!!)
Champs Elysees This is probably one of the most disappointing part of the trip. The street was pretty. But that's about it. Shopping wise, Regent Street beats this place hands down. J and I walked from Montmarte to Champs-Elysees, had some crappy crepes on the way. But the sceneries along the way were beautiful, despite the motherfuckin rain.
Arc de Triomphe I went there twice. First time didn't get to the top. Second time got to the top and felt slightly queasy. But it was quite fun trying to figure out what was written on the walls. My French was limited to "Au revoir", "Parlez-vouz anglais", "voulez vous coucher avec moi", (and some occasional "merde"). Trying to read (aloud) and understand French was Herculean.
Shakespeare & Co Bookshop This is the coziest bookshop I've ever been. A must go. With some really old staircases which crackled everytime u walk upstairs.
Musee du Louvre Again, we were in hurry (and it was pissing down cats and dogs). Our ONLY aim was to see how small Mona Lisa can be (after Jess moaned about the XXXS-sized portrait). Surprisingly, it's a lot bigger than I expected. And there weren't many tourists around too! After the holy grail, we left. (It certainly says something about my cultural awareness :P Sorry, I really am not a museum type of person.)
Versailles Strictly speaking it's not in Paris, but it's one of the most amazing park I've ever been. It's massive. So huge that I got lost in the place a couple of times. It's one of the places that I definitely want to go back to, at some point!
c. Food It's hard to find bad food in Paris (except for the crepes I had on the way to Champs Elysees). I had escargot, mussels, fish, crepes (omg there's a place near notre dame, they make the best crepes in the world!), wine, food, food, food - I can't remember as I'm really sleepy now....
In a nutshell: 8/10
I will go back to Paris again. It's amazing, despite the horrible weather.
Summer time, I can't wait. |

They say, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (or Tom, or Dick, or Harry, or whoever). A firm believer of such myth (myth because I've been playing a lot but I'm still dull. BUT, I'm an optimist, one day I reckon I'll be less dull, hence the "firm believer" part), I decided to go on some holidays on my 2nd paycheck. (Ssshh.. I spent my first paycheck on a coat :P)
1. Edinburgh Being sad(-istic) and a medic, I grew to like Amateur Transplant over the years (I still like them :P). Had been wanting to see their live performances. So when I knew I could make it for Edinburgh Festival this year, I bought the ticket without much hesitation. Dragged another friend (read: victim) of mine to come along. Plan was to get a coach on Friday after work (to save cost), sleep on coach, reach Edinburgh on Saturday morning, go for the Festival from dawn till dawn (of Sunday), get coach back (sleep on the coach again) and work on Monday.
Sounds like a good plan? Except that yours truly misread the coach time. So we ended up missing the coach, and embarked on the craziest journey of the century: drove all the way up to Edinburgh while feeling absolutely shattered from work.
Outcome: Amateur Transplant did not disappoint us. Watched few more interesting shows. Got back to work on Monday, on time, and did not fall asleep throughout the day. 8/10
2. Holland This is again, quite a last minute trip. 2 very disorganised (one being slightly better, and it wasn't me :P) individuals decided to pay Jess a visit in Eindhoven. The slightly more organised of the two got the air ticket and etc ready, and the clueless one just tag along. Mind you several hours before the trip, yours truly had just finished a 13-hour (again) on call, and the more organised friend, Simon, had just finished his on call (or something) too.
No, we did not miss the flight. But what's worse was we spent first half of the trip trying to catch up with sleep at Jess's place (and we were only there for 2.5 days), second half feeling groggy and absolutely crap.
Outcome: Somehow whilst drifting in and out of sleep, we manage to visit Anne Frank House (awesome) and Van Gogh Museum, and had some really good pancakes. Oh and how can I forget about the Red Light District? It's an enlightenment (eye-opener is an understatement)! Girls on display windows, the Banana show, peep show, sex show, etc, you name it they have them all. And the special cakes and coffee. The devil was tempted to try but the more sober / organised friend dragged her away. So yeah it's a very family-friendly trip. No sex shows, no drugs. Just purely, museums, and family-friendly pancakes (and Jess's favourite burritos)
In a nutshell, we could have visited more places had I not done the 13-hour on call. Thanks Rob, thanks. (Rob swapped an on-call with me) 6/10
3. Paris I'll leave this for later. Reason being - I'm tired, again, from the nights.
Till then.

After the pseudo-hiatus, I'm back. Somehow this site becomes more of an update of myself, than a place to pen thoughts. Ah well, with the two brain cells left (one on the right, one on the left) after years of ethanol insult, I don't have many thoughts anyway.
So, my updates for the past few months:
1. Job - Finally the lines of "Oh-I'm-just-a-student-don't-ask-me" and "I'm-still-a-student-where's-my-discount?" became obsolete (until further notice).
4 months into the job, I'm still pretty clueless about what I'm supposed to do. Dangerous you think? Well, maybe my cluelessness, or rather the general cluelessness of all Foundation Year 1 doctors (alright, I really don't wana sound like the only dumb ones :P) is a public secret - so most of the time our job is somewhat mundane that involves taking blood, putting in 12049857209 cannulas, clerking new patients, putting blood requests, updating and printing out ward round lists, remembering where patients are, oh and also picking up bits and pieces of ward round lists that the SHO / Reg left behind, chasing x-ray-CT-MRI-ultrasound-OGD-whatnot-scans results, dealing with patients' relatives who really, really, really wanted to talk to a doctor at 11:30pm and so on, so forth.
No I don't make coffee for consultants (I tried once, half a year ago, when the consultant anaesthetist asked me to make him a cup of coffee - and that was the first and the last time I've made someone a cup of coffee :P).
Only very rarely (like, once a week or so when I'm on call or on night shifts) then I get to deal with very sick patients (or so I thought :P) and most of the time, my management plan would eventually end up with "Senior review". I'm not gonna brag about how awesome I am because I'm not, but hopefully the coming posts (about my job) could be something that I can laugh about when I look back years later (if this site is still around).
Hah, so there you go, a very brief and generic run-through of my job. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of interesting things happening (like getting shitted on my face, literally, but I'll save that for another day), some disgusting, some inspiring, some poignant, and some just makes me cry. I'll write more when I'm not too tired. Right now, I've just done a 13-hour night shift of 3 crash calls and 30++ new patients and more than 15 wards of medical inpatients with only 3 of us covering the whole medical department, my brain is nearly dead.
So, till then.
Stay tuned.Current Mood: exhausted

| » Rantings |
Woo hoo!!! I've just handed in my assessment form for my electives to be signed off! It'll be done on *hopefully* Wednesday.
So let me rant a little about my electives.
1. Accommodation It's shite, shite, shite. Basic to the max. A bed, a table and a wardrobe, slightly similar to the Banting shite hole, only worse! I thought anyone who has survived Banting would be able to survive anything. WRONG! At least we've got nice roommates in Banting. Here in this shite hole, we've got cockroaches as our roommates. Sweet. Nearly 30 people sharing 4 toilets and 4 shower rooms and a kitchen, wow.
Ah well, we only paid $50 per week. But cockroaches in the rooms are unacceptable! When we lodged our complaints, read on, it's hilarious.
2. Coordinator Wellllll, I could go on and on for days. She's effing annoying. Speaks... like... that... and all that she cares about is booking her holidays to the Middle East. So, as I said about the cockroaches, we went to speak to her about it. (YC = me; Coordinator = X)
X: So how's it getting on with everything here? YC: Hospital is fine, clinical stuffs are excellent, but there's something about the accommodation that we'd like to discuss with you. X: Oh, what happened? YC: Well, we've seen some cockroaches roaming around in our rooms, even on the first day we moved in. And it's pretty scary. Is there anything we can do about it? X: Ahhh, cockroaches... I've got several complaints about them too. But guess what, cockroaches are native to Australia. And hey it's Sydney! Sydney is infested with cockroaches, it's their home! It's just like rodents in London! YC: Well I appreciate that cockroaches need a place to stay, but when they start co-habitating with us, that crosses the line. X: Ahh... well, we Australians are used to having cockroaches around. You know, when I was living in Darwin some 20 years ago, one night I woke up with thousands of cockroaches running across my feet, and that's very normal you know. Ahh well Australia is full of creepy crawly creatures, that's the beauty of Australia, isn't it? You won't get to see much of these in London. I suppose you just have to live with it. YC: Firstly, I'm not from London, I was brought up in a tropical country with lots of creepy crawly creatures too. But these creepy crawly creatures do not exist in our rooms unless the rooms are dirty. I can accept cockroaches in the bathrooms, in the bins, even in the kitchens, but not in the room. And secondly, there are lots of rats in London but they don't co-habitate with Londoners, unless the place is dirty. Thirdly, when we decided to bring this up, we expect solutions, living with it isn't much of a solutions. It may be normal for you to live with cockroaches but it's not for us. We understand that you are here to facilitate us should we need any help, that is why we thought we would speak to you first. X: Ahhh... well you see, if you plan to travel, you'll have to expect all these things. It's just like planning for a ski trip, you'll expect accidents to happen. YC: *wtf?! realised this woman wasn't helping very much* Well, preparing for the worst is one thing, solving the problem is another. As much as we're just here for a couple of weeks, we would very much like to make this as a home as you've suggested on day 1. With these creatures running around in our rooms, all we are asking for is if it's possible for the accommodation office to get some cockroach repellants, or perhaps, fumigating the building. X: Well if you can't cope with these creepy crawly creatures being natives here, there has to be something in you that you have to change. YC: *wtf?!!!!!!!!* X: By the way, do you know anything about Turkey? I'm booking a holiday there and am wondering if there's any cheap hotels I could book. YC: *realised she was talking to a brick, vomited some blood and fainted*
Please tell me I was being a prat.
3. People a. Mr X He's probably the 2nd fattest prick (the prick part, he's as fat as the Fat Bastard) I've ever met, after the Fat Bastard from BLEMS. When we are cooking in the kitchen, he'll storm in and tell us off for "not wiping and cleaning the stove straight away". Well with his intellect he probably doesn't know that stoves are hot when we are cooking, and we can only clean it up AFTER we cook and the stove cools down. With the cockroaches around, we (everyone who uses the kitchen) are all extremely careful and hygienic when it comes to cleaning and we always make sure that the dishes are done right after we eat. So I don't quite understand what is he getting on about.
Ah well, he's a mystery - he's always having salad but he still so fat, he claims to be one of the staff nurse in the hospital but we see him in the accommodation all the time, he's always grumpy, and he always whines about "Doctors in the hospitals are not real doctors, only the PhD doctors are real doctors". Yeah yeah yeah, I think he must have been one of those people who tried to get into medical school some 30 years ago and couldn't get it and is still trying, that's probably why he's so bitter.
b. Miss B "Hey that looks nice, can I try some?" "Hey that smells nice, can I try some?" That's the most frequently said phrases these few weeks. Miss B is a posh young little lady who tries a little too hard. She loves food, especially those that aren't on her plate. She thinks sharing is caring, only that she's always "sharing", or rather, taking other people's food without offering hers. You would have thought she's probably a poor student trying to skint and on a very tight budget. Yeah very right, she spent all her money buying clothes and food that she stuffed her face and never bother to share, whilst trying to claw on every opportunity available to make us pay for her. Fucking twat.
#1 Venue: RedBull Flug Tag, Royal Botanical Garden So after watching the really silly Flug Tag, we decided to get some food. The other two girls don't quite like seafood so they had some pizza. I love seafood as much as I love myself. As I was queuing up for some calamaris, Miss B came up to me. Miss B: Hey YC, what are you having? YC: Calamari and chips. You? Miss B: Hmm, I don't know. Turkish pie and calamari, which one is cheaper? YC: Well they're all written on the board. Hmmm let's see, Turkish pie is cheaper, it's $5.50. Calamari is $10. Miss B: Oh, okay. You get the calamari, I'll get the Turkish pie, and can I have some of your calamari? YC: *wtf?! But decided to be nice* Hmmm... okay...
10 minutes later Miss B: Okay, I've got the Turkish pie. Oh, it's beef. Don't think you can have it. YC: It's okay. I don't like to eat others' food anyway. Miss B: Hehe, okay, so can I have some of your calamari? YC: *vomited some blood and fainted*
#2 Venue: Luna Park Miss B: Gosh I'm really hungry!!! YC: Yeah, me too. Where are the other girls? There you go, they're queuing up for some rides. Well I'm gonna get some food. Miss B: Yeah me too, shall we go together? YC: Okay... Miss B: So what do you wana get? YC: Hmmm... I don't know... maybe fish and chips? Miss B: Hmmm, fish and chips cost $9, calamari cost $12. Why don't you get the calamari? YC: Umm.. I'll think about it... (she's attacking again!!!) Miss B: See if you get the calamari, then I'll get some chips, and I can have some of your calamari? YC: *wtf?! chips bloody cost $4!* Umm, no, I think I'll stick to fish and chips. You order your own food okay? Miss B: Hmmm... that case I think I'm not that hungry after all.
And the outcome was: I bought some fish and chips, when I went off to get some ketchup, she stole my chips. Fucking cheapskate thief!
#3 Venue: Chinatown We went to have some bubble tea. But I was quite hungry. YC: Hey girls I think I might wana order some starters, anyone wants to share? Other girls: Well we're not THAT hungry, but if you are ordering something that's not seafood, then we don't mind sharing! YC: Hmmmm then don't worry, I might want to order either fishballs or octopus? Miss B: Oh, you are ordering that. Hmm they sound nice. YC: You wana share with me? Well, if we order fishballs, there'll be about 16 fishballs, I won't be able to finish them anyway, we can share perhaps? Miss B: No! It's $8! Why don't you buy it, and I'll have just one or two?! YC: *WTFFFFF?!!!* Don't worry about it. I don't want it anymore.
#4 Venue: Flight centre Miss B: Hmmm, the water proof camera is very expensive. Miss A, you're gonna get it aren't you? Miss A: Hmm I might. Miss B: Okay, you don't mind if you buy the camera and I nick some of your photos later do you? Miss A: Yes I mind, please get your own camera.
These are just several examples. I'll write more (I could go on for days too :P) when the lab isn't too busy.
So, apart from these few things, Sydney is still good. At least I've gone up to Sydney Tower and watch sunset from the observation deck - which was breathtaking!
Till then, taaa!!!

| » Greetings from Sydneyyy!! |
Haaaaa a big hello from the not-so-sunny Sydney!
Okay okay, I lied. Penrith to be precise. But hey it's ONLY an hour away from the city centre haha!
Well, it's finally time to drag my lazy arse for some updating after being MIA for the past few months (or more?)
1. Finals - I've done my finals woo hoo! And passed them!
2. Travel a. Malaysia: After finals, I went back to Malaysia for 3 weeks, attended my granny's birthday and had plenty of good food (that's just very yingci when things involve food).
b. Hong Kong: Went to HK with Shan and it was amazing! Good food (AGAIN!) and good company x 4.5 (Shan, Kandice, Jerry, Joey, half of Vincent - he only joined us for the last few days!). Hong Kong is one of those places (Rome being the other) that I won't get bored going again and again. Took some photos and if the rain continues pouring here in Sydney I'll put them up (haha but better pray it doesn't - I still haven't been to Blue Mountain!!!!)
c. Macau: Gahh! Our initial plan was to visit Macau on the last day of Hong Kong trip, check in our luggage as early as possible and tour around the city. But of all the days and times and queues, it has to be our turn that the check in system in the airport went cranky - and there we got held up for nearly 2.5 hours and nearly missed our flight, don't even try asking about the trip. GAHHH!!!
d. Sydney: So here I am doing my electives, Intensive Care and Neurology. It's fun albeit being relatively far away from the city centre and the coordinator is a bit of a ditz who only cares about her holidays in Turkey and thinks having cockroaches in the room is normal. My friends are going to Cairns this week but I'm not. There isn't much point really for me to spend 600AUD just to get a suntan. (psst: this missy here can't swim at all... so shut up)
Okay! I've got an early day off, went in at 7:30am for X-ray meeting and breakfast, finish by 9am! There's a ward round but I can't be asked, I'm going to the city! Taaa!!

Gahh!!
This is fucking depressing.
What's with the exercises and eating less??
My weight still shoots up exponentially!
In no time I won't be able to see my toes when I stand upright.
Weight has never been a problem for me until lately. I think it's karma. It really is.
I'm gonna hide in the corner and cry my eyes out.

Half way into the 5th year. I'm enjoying every single bit of it (minus some mishaps last week).
1. Diarrhoea & vomiting The most traumatising 6 hours of my life - caught the bug from hospital. Profuse diarrhoea and vomiting. Lost 2kg and some appetite. My flatmates cooked some porridge for me - so homely that I nearly cried. Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks!!
2. My firms Surprisingly I got Commendation for both General Medicine & Care of Elderly firms. When I say surprisingly - I did not go in as much as I should have been. But guess I've been quite efficient *coughs* in terms of prioritising my learning and jobs (Sorry too much of MTAS does no good to my already damaged brain). Some changes that I've noticed in myself this year is that - I'm more assertive (in a diplomatic way I hope), organised and time-efficient than before. Let's just hope these changes last.
3. Visa Hmmm, I really need to sort this out before it's too late. Problem is I'm going back to Malaysia in 10 days' time, and only will be back on 26th Jan. Then I'm leaving for Malaysia again on 10th March - I don't know if I can get hold of my passport in time. Oh well.
4. SSM SORTED! :D I'm just a flight away!
And merry christmas!
ps: Ken, yes I'm very much alive :p was just lazy and slightly busy :P

Long time.
Have been busy with several things. 1. Firms Finished my General Surgery & General Medicine firms. Thoroughly enjoyed my firms. Though I kept complaining about the journey (esp. for General Medicine, it's a hell of a mission to get there!) but nice team and firmmates certainly helped! I am not so much of an internal medicine person, I prefer Surgery, hence the difference in enthusiasm (I know I know this is bad... I really shouldn't have done that but I can't help hehe). However as mentioned before, my team in both firms are really nice and keen to teach, so although I didn't have as much motivation in General Medicine as in General Surgery, I still made sure that I've done my work.
2. Job application Finally.
3. SSMs I did my first SSM on Orthopaedics & Trauma. It's probably one of the most enjoyable and rewarding SSMs I've done, after Anaesthetics. People have told me horror stories. But so far, I have been enjoying all my experience in the field, as a student. I love the Orthopaedics bit, and love the Trauma bit even more. I don't know how true will this be when it becomes a career. I do want to give it a try. Either that, or Anaesthetics.
4. Electives Have been organising my electives for the past few months. Now most of the application is done. All I need to do now: a. Get my flight ticket b. Sort out my visa (do I need one?!!) c. Pass my final exam Then I'm off to the sunny down under! Woohooo!!! PS: But it might be autumn/winter when I'm there :( 5. Revision Yes, horrors of all horrors. My final is officially 3 months away from now (14 weeks). And I've officially started my revision, today :P For the past few months, I've been trying to start the revision. As I said, I tried, but being extremely busy (and sometimes lazy), things get tough! Anyway, wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!

| » *Potentially* Busy Weekend |
|
Can't believe next week will be the last week of my last summer as a student (yeah, next year this time, fingers crossed, I'll have signed my life away for the better of mankind).
What is more unbelievable is that this summer seemed to be the crappiest summer I've ever had! Much thanks to the money issue. Biiiiiaaaatttttccchh!!!! Otherwise I would have been happily sunbathing myself in Spain or something. Or at least Glossop. But no, instead I had to stay at home and play solitaire on my laptop - what an exciting summer!
Alright to be fair, that only happened for the past few days. I did have a fair share of fun before that, even for the past few days, I had fun watching movie eating home-made Nachos and baking with Kalpana, so yeah, I ain't as miserable as I would have imagined or described, but the fact that I had to cancel most of my summer plans frustrates me a lot. On the brighter side - I'm working on a temporary part-time data entry job for my flatmate's sister as they need to meet some deadlines. So at least that keeps me occupied.
We had a barbeque last week and it was a blast. Food was just amazing and all it took was an impromptu decision on Friday - and the barbeque was up and going on Sunday afternoon! PT and YT were there too, so much to catch up! The day ended with some frisbee games oh and by the way, yours truly is really rubbish at it.
I went to Stratford-upon-Avon last Saturday with JB and S. Nice trip. Had some supercurryfragilisticexpiadelicious Indian foood - therapeutic to my cravings for spicy food but left my ass flaming the next day. And they say, one man's meat is another man's poison, my case would be "the mouth's curry is the ass's poison".
Anyway, I've rambled so much without even going anywhere near to the main topic - A *potentially* busy weekend. Dim sum tomorrow with my cousins and badminton after that with them lot. Sunday's plan is still a bit hazy hence the word "potentially".
Alright I know this entry is quite lame :P I had a lot to say just now, but I accidentally coughed them away - I think I've caught the end-of-summer-flu. -.-!!!

Things have not been good lately. It started off with some screw-ups in paperwork for my monthly allowance - hence, delayed. In fact to date I still have yet to receive the money after 3 weeks of wild goose chase.
Then, another money problem came along which I'm still pretty clueless and need to sort out tomorrow.
Since money IS a problem, fine I stayed at home - spend less money and try not to bore myself to insanity. Hence, I decided to bake some egg tarts. Egg tarts needed egg. I took out the carton of eggs (where the carton said "Best before: 18th August 07") and the last egg in the carton turned out to be a rotten egg. Wow.
Nevermind, I can do with an egg less.
Then, I put in the first batch of my egg tarts into the oven. And did a grave mistake - I went back to my room, and watch the finale of Music and Lyrics.
Hugh Grant totally blew me away with the cheesy "Don't Write Me Off".
Then I smelt something burning.
Unsurprisingly - the batch of egg tarts became charcoal.
Anyone up for a bbq??

| » Outcall |
As I was lazying around at Covent Garden, I got a text:
"Hi pinky, how are you? I wondered whether I cud book you for 1 hour today as soon as ur free? Thanks bob"
I didn't recognise the number. But because: 1. My phone died last time and I still have yet to retrieve all my friends' numbers, 2. Pinky is an internal joke within our circle of friends, hence I called up Kal and asked her if she knows or if she knows that I know anyone by the name "Bob". Answer was negative. But she suggested me to ring back and see who's it.
So being curious (half hoping it's probably some old-long-lost guy friends of mine who suddenly becomes effing hot) I rang back, but the person didn't pick up. Then within a minute, I got the 2nd text:
"Sorry pink its jus bit difficult talking while at work.. Let me know. Text or leave me voicemail."
Alright I really have know idea who this was. So I texted him back:
"Hey sorry my phone died and I've lost everyone's number. May I know who's this pls?"
Then, the reply came:
"Hi yeah its bob.. Remember you came to mine for 1 hour outcall.. You said u wud soon be gettin a flat but website still says outcalls only. Still £250 for 1 hour. Dont worry for you il pay £300."
. . . . . . . .
FUCK'S SAKE! Even my number sounds like a call girl's number.
Anyway I just texted him back "Sorry mate, you lost me. Think you've got wrong number." And he never replied after that. Probably died of embarrassment thinking I'm a guy or something.
On the hindsight Am I being nice or what? I should have texted something like "Sorry mate, I don't do guys."

| » I hate exam (who doesn't?) |
|
Exam is just over a week away.
I haven't even done 1/3 of the work. Die die die die die x 1000000000000000000.
Blame it on my virtually inexistent concentration span, and some inevitable distractions.
Top 3 Distractions 1. Phone - Yes this is a major major culprit. I hate phone calls when it comes to my exam (or meeting deadlines, etc.). I'm always tempted to switch off the phone but the anal side of me battles to keep it on just in case there's an important call (stupid I know). So the next best thing is to put it on silent mode. But the vibrating buzz will still distract me. Then the genius in me came up with a brilliant idea: keep it in the fridge wardrobe. I told my mom about my brilliant idea.
Me: So I set my phone on silent mode and leave it in the wardrobe, then I lock the door and pretend to be very quiet so people don't know I'm at home. Very smart hor? Mom: He he he, you sound like you're avoiding Dai Yee Long (loan shark) lidat!
2. Internet - Look what I'm doing now? I'm trying hard to avoid revision. Writing some non-sensical rants, blog-hopping, MSN-ing, Wikipedia-ing, Facebook-ing, Friendster-ing, Solitaire-ing, you name it. I tried to switch off the computer, only to get even more agitated (withdrawal symptoms?!!) and then whoops - the computer is on again, Facebook-ing endlessly again. I'm such a loser...
3. Food - Every 3 minutes, I feel hungry. It's important to note that "I feel hungry" doesn't mean "I am hungry". "I feel hungry" means "I have had enough, I need something to munch on", a pathological way of avoiding revision; whereas "I am hungry" is a physiological state where body needs food to replenish and get going. After the "I feel hungry" phase, "I feel guilty" phase comes, then "I weigh myself", then "I am horrified", then - I continue feeling hungry, continue eating, continue feeling guilty, weighing myself... cycle goes on. I think I'll be as heavy as my brother by the end of this exam. Yay! -.-!
------------------- Anyway, back to work. *cries*

| » Yay! And then depressed. |
When I wrote this and this, I obviously had no idea how much damage a piece of dissertation can do.
Now in retrospect - SSM4 (i.e.: my dissertation) is almost as hazardous as a biological weapon. It:
1. Reduced my almost-non-existence intelligence by 50% 2. Retarded my expressive language ability - I can't even speak a proper sentence now. 3. Increased my appetite by 100% - leading to overeating which subsequently results in unplanned obesity (<-- that's how I speak now. uncool-ness, if there's such word, to the max!) 4. Took up too much of my time - no time for final exam revision and Tun 5. Made me realise that I'm gradually becoming a little miss perfect. 6. Gave me blood-shot eyes 7. Made me look like a zombie, talk like a zombie, think like a zombie, walk like a zombie
If that's not enough, it just fucken depressed me to the max!!!
And now *drum rolllllllll* I've officially pwned this piece of shit. I mean, finished it. *lol*
Molecular biology of Alzheimer's Disease and its Therapeutic Approaches - NO MORE!
Happy. Happy. Happy. Happy. Happy.
2 seconds later I realised my Locofuckingmotor exam is on Friday.
How sweet!
p.s.: Not writing in Chinese cause it takes fucking ages! I can't seem to find the right word using Pin Yin. Wait till I get a graphic tablet or something. Money money money, where art' thou?

| » Yim jim ~ Fussy |
Yim yim jim jim, 讲好听就是完美主义啦,讲难听就是不自量力。

哈哈!可能我的flatmates知道我的blog?!知道我很不爽的毒骂他们??哇!有没有啊???我不想客死异乡咧!!
Okok,
